TLC Art Walks in Ardwick: Nature Resilience
please join us to discover our new drop-in venues and art studio, we will walk different routes over the next two walks looking for signs of nature resilience in the urban environment, each walk will be lead by a different Artist and will focus on a different art-form (photography, creative writing, drawing and stitching).
Please bring waterproof clothing, sensible shoes and let us know if you have any access requirements.

We are mostly concentrating on moving from St Luke's Church to the new studio, the Art Project will continue in the meeting room at St Luke's while we pack down the main art room. Do come along to collect any work or help out if you wish, otherwise join the art room for usual drawing and painting.

Tuesday 24th September 2-5pm, Hulme Garden Centre - please meet us there (28 Old Birley St, Hulme, Manchester M15 5RG) Bus Number 86 - a map will be provided during the first workshop to help you find it. This will be a continuation of the Mark Making with Thread sessions with Emily Hayes, drawing on the plant life of the gardens and working together to create new work.

Tuesday 3th July, 1.30-5pm - Walking Poetry Session with Nige Wood: meet at St Luke's Church we will set off and travel by bus to our nature destination where Nige will guide us through techniques for working in the field - collecting words and creating poems. No writing experience necessary.

Tuesday 9th July, 2-5pm Quiet Drawing Workshop with Naomi Kendrick: St Luke's Church Main Hall. Come along and try out drawing into the crumpled surfaces of paper, a relaxing process that results in drawings that hint of winter trees, maps and the body. We will be making a shared scroll drawing on tissue paper and there will also be the opportunity to explore making drawings with natural objects and clay as well as trying out different types of papers and drawing materials. The workshops are for you to spend as much time as you like, whether you have 10 minutes or two hours you are very welcome to drop by and draw.

Nige will be teaching techniques and inspiring us to write about Breathing Spaces in their many forms.

Sunday 5th May, at Parrs Wood Environmental Centre - International Dawn Chorus Day event - we will be listening to the DUSK chorus this year to compare the experience to last years Dawn Chorus listening event. We will spend some time doing a sound walk in the different areas of Parrs Wood grounds before settling in the woodland to hear the last bird songs of the day. Arrangements will be confirmed closer to the time - watch this space...

Tuesday 2nd April Come with us to visit the Portico Library, an oasis of calm in the city centre, we will find out about the history and the current exhibitions etc on at this Manchester institution. Together we will find out more about how this library works and how we can make use of the space and access the archive. There will be a reduced charge of £1 for this visit (to The Portico) and the group size is limited to 12 please get in touch to book a place.
