Portico Library

As part of our city center visit, we arranged a tour of the Portico Library and found out all about this historic purpose-built Library. None of the people on the visit had ever been there before, and most people didn't know it existed. One person had been on their mailing list for years but always had anxiety about actually crossing the threshold. Everybody appreciated the peace and quiet in this special place, and we felt very welcome and comfortable in the space.

I think this will turn out to be a very unique breathing space for us all.

Aoife who lead our tour kindly shared some very special books with us, knowing that we are an art group she selected books with beautiful illustrations. We were all taken particularly with the huge book of ferns and the special printing technique that preserved the very tactile quality of the root balls bound up with soil.
