Placemaking
During this project I kept coming across the term'placemaking' and I wasn't exactly sure what it meant, but it seemed to be relevant to thinking about how we might preserve and expand green and quiet spaces in urban setting.
Placemaking is a multi-dimensional approach to the planning, creation and sustainability of public spaces that has the potential to build relevant healthy and joyous spaces for everyone in our villages, towns and cities.
See this interesting recent blog post on Four Ways to Build Inclusive, Healthy Places for All on RWJF Culture of Health Blog.
This clearly links back to Lucy Saunder's Healthy Streets Approach which we think all city councils in UK should sign up to.
