Audio Postcards from Cotton Field Wharf...

December 3, 2017

On 20th November we had a great group walk from Back on Track to New Islington Marina Cotton Field Wharf. Along the way we stopped in different places and carried our some 'sound sampling' exercises, wrote audio postcards and we also did some sound recordings when we arrived at the Marina which is a really intersting space with reeds in the water and lots of bird life. Somehow despite the sounds of construction you do feel like you are away from the city.

Thanks to all participants from Back-on-Track hope you get the listening bug and carry on exploring the city's quieter sounds and enjoying the benefits!

Please visit our gallery of images from that day here.

Note: a good place to return to on quieter times/ days (early mornings/sundays/bank holidays).

To do our sound sampling exercises we first made ourself a Beak Book, here are the instructions:

And here are examples of our sand sampling

T= Technological sounds, H=Human Sounds, N=Nature sounds after Murray Schafer
